Students at Navajyothy English Medium School have the opportunity to take part in a range of extra-curricular activities. Many of these activities take place straight after school. There are clubs for various kinds of sports like football, badminton, cricket, volleyball as well as karate, dance, yoga and art and craft with tailoring. Pupils develop new skills, gain self-confidence and enjoy much new experience in the school with their academic growth.
Dance is a powerful medium for developing many of the attributes of a growing child. Dance helps children grow physically, emotionally socially and cognitively. The physical benefits of dance are widely accepted and appreciated.
In the academic year 2012-2013 onwards we have started regular dance training programme in our school. Mrs Rethi, handles the dance practices in this school. The students from L.K.G to class VII take part in dance training and Mrs. Sijimol KS and Mrs.Ushakumari PT are the teachers in charges.
Yoga is a form of exercise that uses slow movements, stretching and breathing exercise. It is good for increasing flexibility and balance. Yoga has been used as a meditation technique for thousands of years.
Yoga is an ancient art based on harmonizing system of development for the body, mind and spirit. The continued practice of yoga will lead us at a sense of peace and well being, and also a feeling of being at one with their environment. In our school Mr.Suresh Kurumunnu provides Yoga training. Students from classes III to IX take part in Yoga training.
Karate is a martial art which provides concentration and physical fitness. In the modern Era students must practice karate for self depends especially girls. Navajyothy English Medium School provides karate training for the children from classes III to X. Sensei Mr.Tom Ramapuram instructs the children in the martial art.
Stitching and Embroidery
To develop the physical and psychomotor capability of children the school provides ample opportunity through our stitching and embroidery unit. Mrs Ligi Jose handles the classes in stitching and embroidery section. Students from classes III to X take part in the programme.
